Quick Texas weekend

The boys and I flew to Texas last weekend to visit my mom and see my nephew Kade play football. I had thrown out my back on Wednesday and we flew on Friday so it was not easy. Unfortunately, Michael did not go with us as I forgot to buy him a ticket. Whoops! He decided it would be better for him to work and take care of the house anyway so it all worked out. But he did make sure I bought him a ticket for Thanksgiving!
We flew in Friday around lunchtime and mom took us straight to Casa Maria for a tex-mex fix. It was delicious as usual. Then we went to Casa Pacifica and built an ofrenda for Dia de los Muertos. We had a great visit with Uncle Larry and a quick visit with GG and then drove up to Austin for Kade's game. It was really cold and windy and we did our best to enjoy, but between the cold and my aching, aching back, we only made it through the first half. It was still so fun to see him!
Saturday morning we puttered around and then we up to Austin again to meet Cheris and Graham and see the Dia de Los Muertos parade. We really enjoyed it and then walked down the street for a fabulous lunch at Manuel's. Then we let the kids get a donut and walked up to the Texas book festival. It was warm and sunny and we had a really nice day. That evening we drove home and made dinner and popcorn and watched Coco on mom's new giant TV. It was such fun to be together at Casa Pacifica.
Sunday was our last day. It was pouring snow at home and we were thrilled to be basking in sunshine in Texas. The kids went to a playdate at the Rios's house and mom and I dressed up as unicorns and went to a costume dominoes party in Austin at Denise's house. It was lots of fun and we got to spend the afternoon with Tiffany. I played terribly and accidently used three extra dominoes each turn which didn't help my chances, but I still had a really good time. My sister makes me laugh to tears and it is the best.
That evening we came home and got the kids and tumbled into bed. The next morning we said our goodbyes and flew back to Denver. It was a quick weekend but tons of fun. I love visiting my mama and spending time at Casa Pacifica.
