Snow Mountain Ranch YMCA Oct 2020

Image
The first weekend of October, we drove to the YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch. We took Peter with us and the Danielsons met us there later that evening. We took all the bikes and did some cross country mountain biking. We played games and grilled. We took Murphy, the Danielsons new puppy and Holly to the dog park. We roasted marshmallows at the fire pit. Michael and I toured some other cabins with the idea that the foundation might be able to adopt one, but it didn't end up working out. Colorado had been on fire for a few weeks by then and the smoke was pretty strong the second day. We went down to the reservoir and did a little fishing and played some games. On our way home we stopped in Winter Park at the skate park there to make Sam and Garrett happy. It was a nice little fall getaway into the mountains.

September in Covid

Image
September was fun. The weather was still nice and the covid numbers were still okay and we were able to do some limited socializing with our friends which was great! Davis was online instead of hybrid for a week or so while Heritage had a teacher shortage and we struggled with online learning (who knew there was a to-do button on google classroom?). I taught almost all my classes outside and it worked pretty well. Sam went back in person full time. Davis did some racing for his RacerX Junior league team. He raced the Colorado Cup in Castle Rock while Garrett, Leah and Sam did some ziplining. Football season actually happened and we had some good times watching the Saints play. Michael and I rode out bikes up and down the highline canal three or four times a week. The leaves started to change and turned such pretty golden and red and yellow. I loved riding my bike and watching gold just rain down all around me. Sam spent his spare time at Snobahn in a mask and went back to gymnast

Labor Day Weekend in Silverthorne

Image
For Labor Day weekend, we drove up to Silverthorne with the Danielsons. We had booked a cabin online for social distancing and hoped to take the kids to the Frisco Adventure Park and just hang out and relax. We had a lovely time with a few bumps. We grilled and cooked, played Catan, got in the hot tub, watched Mulan, went to the Frisco Adventure Park where the kids scootered and Davis biked and we played frisbee golf. We actually went twice as the kids love it so much. We tried to go cliff jumping, but the drought has been so bad that the water was too low so we found a gravel bank at the lake and decided to sun and paddleboard. We visited the emergency room twice. Once with Leah, when she cut her foot on the gravel bank on some glass and once with Davis who cut his finger and needed stitches after catching it in is mountain bike spokes. We took walks in the mornings and evenings with our dogs, planned future trips together and really enjoyed watching our kids loving each other. We a

We're still here- changing the blog

It's been a while. I quit posting because of several reasons. One is that the kids hate being discussed (by me) on social media these days. The other is the sensitivity around Covid. So much judgement about what people are or are not doing and with whom. Plus, my family has been really, really cautious these last few months so there just hasn't been that much to post about. We stay home. We still have our besties the Danielsons in our bubble. We did get a new puppy on Halloween! Everyone has stayed healthy in our bubble. We are doing okay.  I miss blogging though. So I'm going to keep doing so in a way that isn't so public.  I'm going to switch over to a more private way to continue blogging, and restrict this blog to people I add by their email addresses. Let me know in the comments if you would like for me to add you as a viewer to this blog. I'm happy to do it and would love to stay in touch with you!
