Davis and his Taco

Image
Big news around here. Davis got a truck! We traded in my dad's old titan and bought a road cone orange Toyota Tacoma for Davis. It's 2018 with 57k miles and all the safety features and bells and whistles. It will be our second vehicle till Davis gets his license in Sept, but he can continue to practice/learn in it and it will be his when he gets his license. It will be the last car we ever buy him too, so he better treat it well, lol! He loves it and we think it's a good vehicle for him. He spends each evening reading the manual in bed before he falls asleep. It's pretty awesome.

Being Social Again

Image
The last two weeks, we have begun to be social again! We follow the CDC guidelines and get together with other vaccinated people in small groups, but we are still social! It's the best. Last weekend, we went over to Mike and Maggie's for the first time in over a year! They taught us to play Mahjong which is really hard, but fun. The next day we went up to Denver and visited with the Tolany family who have recently moved from Austin to our city! We were so happy to see their gorgeous new house and catch up with them. We walked over to the park (gorgeous day) and then had a cookout in their backyard. It was wonderful! This weekend we hosted Mike, Maggie, Erin, Patrick and their girls for a Scythe game night. I made brisket chili and Davis and Bella and Sam babysat for us. It was SO much fun!  I've missed being with my friends so much.

Vaccinated!

Michael and I are thoroughly vaccinated. Now Davis has gotten his first shot too! All we have left is poor Sam. As soon as they approve a vaccine for age 12-15, though we'll get him on the schedule! We are a Pfizer family, lol!

Date day in Denver

Image
On the lovely Saturday of Easter weekend, Michael and I snuck out for a date day in Denver! It was the first time to go out in a LOONG time and it was really great. We saw some live music on the 16th street mall, wandered the dairy block and had dinner at Stoic and Genuine. It was so good to be out and about with my love in our city!

Easter 2021

Image
We lucked out and had good weather for Easter weekend this year. The Saturday before Easter, Davis had a date with his new girlfriend, Bella, and Leah and Sam and Garrett took over decorating the eggs. On Sunday, Michael and I set up a scavenger hunt for the boys to find their baskets. They seemed to enjoy it.  That afternoon we picked up KFC chicken and then drove out to Cherry Creek park with the Danielsons for a picnic and lawn games. The weather was absolutely splendid! It was our first taste of spring and we loved it. That evening Michael and I went out and hid glow in the dark easter eggs and Davis, Leah and Sam did a hunt in the yard and green space. Davis went upstairs to play video games after that, but Leah and Sam continued to re-hide and find the glow in the dark eggs for a long time so I think that was a hit. Easter is better in San Marcos with the whole family, but for a Colorado pandemic Easter, we did alright.

Davis is 16!

Davis had a good, if low key, birthday. The RV trip had been a big celebration for him. He didn't get his driver's license on his 16th birthday, because Covid had set him back on driver's ed and permitting, but we did make him feel special. We made him a nice breakfast and gave him a few presents before school. After school he opened more gifts. For dinner we invited the Danielsons over and we had bean bowls and homemade tres leches cake. (Davis's special birthday request). The following Friday, Davis had Alex and Donovan over and they got pizza and junk food and hung out in the hot tub. Davis was happy and it was a good weekend.

RV Vacation

Image
For Davis's spring break, we rented an RV and went on vacation. (Pictures went in from newest to oldest so make adjustments, lol).  I made a whole shutterfly book with a million pictures of this trip, but here are a few highlights. We started in Denver and drove down to Taos where we met the Perry family. After a quick chocolate shop and Seconds visit, we ordered in Toribios and chatted by the fire until bedtime.  The next day we drove to ABQ where we had a diner lunch and then kept driving through TERRIBLE wind to Sedona. We made it after dark and pulled into a campground called Verde Valley. The Riley's were there and our mountain bike family was complete. Our first full day in Sedona was lovely. The boys went mountain bike riding and we hung out at the pool, checked out the local winery and the went on a pink jeep tour. That evening the Rileys made a great dinner for us at their rig. The next day was cold and miserable. We spent most of our day inside the RV, but did ventu
