Block Party

Image
Last year I offered to be HOA social chair so I could throw neighborhood parties. This seemed like a winning proposition as we don't have a big friend group and I wanted to throw parties where people came. It turns out to be a lot of work though. Still, we do fun things. I wrote a grant to Littleton again and got a $500 grant to throw a block party. We also do monthly outdoor movie nights, but people here don't seem to love them the way they did in Texas. It's weird. They send their kids out, but don't come themselves. It seems like back home, people thought they were for the grown ups with kids being a bonus fun. I feel like tons of grownups counted on us to throw them and were so happy when we did. I miss that. I miss grown ups loving our movie night the way we did. But that's not the point of this entry. The point of this entry is that we threw a block party. The weather was not our friend. It was super hot all day and then it rained off and on all evening. Bu

Those days in July...

After our big 4th of July Adventure, life settled down. On weekends we party. During the week, Michael often flies out of town and the kids and I do our thing. We go to the library. I take the kids to Target for Icees. I run and work in my yard. Kids go to Snobahn, Sam goes to tumbling, they have their guitar lessons and Davis had his first mountain bike ride with his team at Bear Creek Park. (It's gorgeous there!) The kids hang out with their friends and play in the neighborhood with their friends and do friend things. I drive up to the UU church and rehearsed with the choir over and over for our big concert on Thursday. I had my CASA interview. I had an interview with Anastasis about teaching theater there. I shop and cook and read and putter. I love summer.

Snow Mountain Ranch 4th of July

We had SO MUCH FUN at Snow Mountain Ranch for the 4th of July. We dropped Davis off at the bus for Camp Chief Ouray on Sunday afternoon. Michael and Sam and I stopped on the way home in Morrison for lunch and a little Wizard's Unite (a harry potter game). Then Michael flew out of town for work and Sam and I spent Monday together shopping at the mall and going to Snobahn. Tuesday morning Cheris and Graham arrived (Violet was at camp with Davis). We shopped and ran errands and got ready for family camp at Snow Mountain Ranch. That evening both Michael and Rob flew in and by Wednesday, we were ready to go! Wednesday morning we drove up to Snow Mountain Ranch, stopping for lunch in Winter Park. Our cabin was ready and moved in! We had so much fun at family camp and so much fun being together! We played lawn games, built forts, painted ceramics, hiked the Waterfall hike, did two ziplines, (the valley zipline was epic), tubed the summer hill, practiced archery, played Catan, rode bik
