Random musings and updates

I should be packing right now. We leave for Costa Rica in two days. I just can't get there. Sam is refusing to sleep this afternoon. He's in a good mood, just not sleeping. Davis is pulling every toy out and placing it randomly around the apartment. He's in a good mood too, just messy. As for me, I'm just tired. I figured out how to play my ipod through the xbox, so I can finally listen to my tunes around the apartment. I've got Lisa Tingle on right now. Let's see, what have I managed to get done today? I worked out early this morning. We went to story time at the library a little later in the morning, then had a playdate with Shana and Callie. Then we picked up Michael and had lunch at our favorite local diner, Harlow's. Then nap. What else? I've changed three terrible blow out diapers on Sam today, changed his outfit four times and given him a bath once. I got the Feb. pictures downloaded and sent out to friends. I still need to put th

Samalicious- Little Brother

Image
I call him Samalicious because he is. He's just delicious. I like to smoosh my face down on his warm, downy little head. He's such an easy going soul. Once we got past the six week mark, he became such a little joy. He loves for anyone to talk to him. He will stare into your eyes and smile huge smiles if you even glance at him. He smiles more than any baby I ever met. He smiles if you put him down on the changing table because he knows that for a minute or two he has a captive audience. He also talks more than any newborn I've known. Constant sighs and coos and the clearest "Goo" imaginable. He's a loud baby in general. He snores and wheezes and when he cries, everyone can hear him. He has settled into a nap routine and I am able to anticipate his tired times and put him in his crib awake. I place him in the crib and he glances up at me, smiles and then waits for me to insert the paci. I do and he buries his head into his crib (he lies on his sid

My kids are famous

Not really famous, but I did manage to post some videos of them on You Tube. (by myself, by the way. Michael did not help me. I am very proud.) We've been trying to take more video lately and I love You Tube. We watch old Sesame street videos all the time and Michael watches obscure music videos. Anyway, I hope you enjoy. They are on the left under "videos". I'll keep adding them as we make them so keep checking back.

Updates and new friends

Image
We have been here for over a month now and we feel pretty settled in. We still haven't made it to the train park or found a good place to ride our bicycles. We have found a great grocery store (I could wax poetically about Trader Joes) and a fantastic sushi restaurant. I have my eyes on a gym called Lifetime Fitness. They have a spa and a pool and childcare for children over three months. They have one here in Tempe and they are building one in South Austin. We're touring it this week. I'll keep you updated as to whether or not we join. I'm thinking it will be a birthday present to me. I have also been busy with playdates! When I first got here I put myself out there everywhere I went. People probably thought I was weird, but I was bound and determined to make friends and stay busy while I was here. One friend I made was through an Austin Mama. Her name is Daniela and she has two sweet little children and a great house full of toys. Davis loves her daughte

Davis wants a Doll

Image
When my friend Davis was two years old He wanted a doll, to hug and hold "A doll," said Davis, "is what I need To wash and clean, and dress and feed "A Doll to give a bottle to And put to bed when day is through And any time my doll gets ill I"ll take good care of it," said my friend Davis He was tired of watching Mommy nurse Sam and hold Sam and love on Sam. He wanted to have his own baby. So I did what any mother would do. I loaded my boys into the car and took them to Target and let Davis pick out his own baby. (I wish it had been this easy getting Sam.) Davis picked out a pink doll with a pink stroller and a pink pacifier. The pacifier was important. He knew that babies needed those and he knew that Mommy NEVER let him play with Sam's pacifiers. He loves his doll very much. And he takes care of it. Whenever I nurse Sam, Davis brings his baby doll over to me and tells me, "Nurse, nurse MINE baby doll!" and so I pretend to, but
