Homestake Camping

Image
For Father's Day, we went camping on Homestake Road with the Danielsons. Jason is camping Yoda and is the perfect person to go camping with. We did dispersed camping and found an AMAZING campsite. We had a splendid time, chopping wood, hiking, playing games, sitting around the fire. The kids biked and then climbed a mountain twice. They played with their light sabers and made s'mores. It was freezing the first night, but Jason saved me the second night by setting up a heater in my tent. Holly came with us and ate something bad out of the creek which made her sick, but I still think she had fun. I had never camped outside of a campground, but Jason made it easy, even setting up a makeshift toilet with a bucket and a seat. The Leadville area is beautiful and it was such a fun weekend. I want to do it again!

Home Again, Home Again

We drove back to Colorado at the beginning of June. It was so nice to be home! My bathroom was in mid-remodel and our house was full of boxes and construction, but it was still good to be home. My bed and pillow were so comfy! We immediately rejoined the Danielsons and added one more family to our bubble in the neighborhood. Our three families spent the month of June playing outside together. We have game nights at each other's houses on various decks and patios. Mom and Paul were in town and we spent time with them as well. We went downtown to see real estate and ate out on patios twice, once at Sushi 47 and once downtown on Larimer. We had two outdoor movie nights where we watched Jungle Book and Parent Trap. Davis started riding with his team again and we also did a ride with Donovan when I got to hike with Tanya. Michael and I did a date bike ride at Waterton Canyon. Sam has gone back to tumbling on Tuesday nights. The kids mee

Last Week in Texas

After the Danielsons left, we spent one last week in Texas. We tried to hit the highlights. Davis rode his bike, we swam in the river and pool, we ate Whataburger, we watched movies, we petted Razz. It was a sad day when we had to pack and box up the trampoline. We had one socially distant visit with Cheris and Violet at the pool. I ordered all my favorite HEB products to take home. It was so hard to leave. We had 12 weeks of getting to live in Texas again on the ranch. It was really life changing for me. Despite the circumstances that brought me there, it was a really good thing for me. For the first time in four years since my dad died and we moved away, I made peace with the ranch. I forgave myself for leaving and gave myself permission to love and adore and miss it. I had the joy of watching my kids play the same games and explore the same terrirot that I did growing up. We got to be there for the very best weather Texas offers. I swam and healed my ribs

Danielsons in Texas

Our neighbors and great friends came to Texas to join our quarantine bubble. We spent ten days on the ranch, swimming, grilling,  and playing games on repeat. It was so fun and completely epic. We are so blessed.
