Walter Family Reunion in Port A

Image
We had a wonderful family reunion this weekend. The Walters do it right. Almost the entire family was there (people very seldom miss unless there is a very big reason). We had a big house with a pool and game room and screened porch and fire pit as our home base. We met there on Thursday night and had a big grill out and got to hang with everyone. We celebrated Michael's Aunt Teri's birthday and laughed and hugged and chatted while the kids swam. These reunions only happen every two years and we have lots to catch up on. There are lots of families with children around our age and so we all have people to play with. We and Michael's brother's family and parents stayed at our condos, but we spent all our time with the family. Friday morning we played on the beach with our immediate family in front of our condos and then met at the big house for family meeting where we all go in order from oldest of the original siblings to youngest and spend a few minutes sharing

Father's Day Pool Party

Image
We had a lovely father's day weekend. Michael came home from Dallas and that was wonderful. We had a rough start to the day on Saturday as we cleaned and Michael went through his list of honey do chores and the kids took out their frustration on their daddy's absence on both of us. I did sneak off and get my roots touched up and my stylist gave me cute braids. That afternoon we had a pool party with friends and it was super fun. We are so lucky we get to use such a beautiful pool. Sunday morning the kids brought Michael his presents in bed and then I made a huge batch of pancakes to celebrate father's day. We skipped church and Michael worked on his computer with a new software program and I cooked all day. That afternoon we went to the pool for a big father's day pool party and grill out. The weather was hot and sunny and lots of our friends were there and Michael got to play washers and relax. Martha and Clark came and we were able to celebrate Clark for fat

Long days of summer

This has been a long week and it's only Wednesday. Not bad, but really long. I'm tired this evening so this post may reflect that. Michael is in Dallas all week. It looks like he'll be in Dallas for the rest of the month. It's a good thing we have lots of PTO on the schedule. My parents were off this morning for their vacation. I've been spending all my days with the kids even when I'm working (I have understanding bosses :). Cub scout camp fell through, but the boys have been so good and helpful and easy going so I don't mind. (most of the time- sometimes I bark at them, but in general all has been happy). I did manage to sign them up for daily art class from 1-2:30 every day and they love it and I enjoy the break (and it's free!). Last Friday my dad and I took the boys to see Epic in 3D. This was only the third movie we've ever taken the kids to see in the movie theater and we all really enjoyed it. Mostly the kids spend their summer d

End of School Pool Party

Yesterday was the last day of school for Davis. We hosted a pool party at my parents' house for our friends and their children to celebrate the occasion. We had lots of kids and friends and popsicles and food on the grill and good times. It was a great way to kick off the summer. I had so much fun and so the did the boys. Hooray, summer!

Shaping Sound

Image
This year I received tickets to see Shaping Sound for mother's day. I bought them and got great seats and booked a hotel room and printed out the vouchers and handed them to Michael who wrapped them and handed them to the kids who presented them to me on Mother's Day. It was perfect. Here's the blurb about the show: The dance dream that spawned Oxygen's hit show All The Right Moves goes from screen to stage: Shaping Sound premieres its first-ever live national tour! First Sleepover and River Float

We had a fun and really busy weekend. On Friday evening we went out to Pecan Park Campground to celebrate Sam's friend's birthday. It was lovely weather and it was so fun for Sam and Davis to play with montessori friends and for us to catch up with friends new and old. Saturday morning, Michael and I worked out, cleaned the house, and then recovered the chairs in our dining room. We inherited my grandmother's old dining table and it needed a bit of TLC. We cleaned the wood and restained it and recovered the chairs with a pretty purple vinyl. It looks great now. I also called and drove all over looking for parquet flooring for our lounge floor where the water heater flood has ruined it, but nobody has samples. I finally just ordered some from Home Depot with a hope and prayer that it matches. Saturday afternoon, Violet and Graham came over to spend the night with the kids. Davis and Samuel were so excited. They cleaned and decorated their rooms and had all sorts o
