Winter Park Mountain Biking Weekends

Image
We bought Davis a season pass to Trestle Downhill park in Winter Park this year. His friend Donovan has one too and his parents have an RV called Gus. We have gone to Winter Park two weekends to hang out with them and let Davis ride downhill. The first weekend we went we stayed at great condo owned by a friend of Suzy's. My ribs were still extremely painful so I didn't do much, but lie around, but Michael and Sam went hiking and one afternoon Davis, Michael and Sam all did an epic ropes course. We also shared outdoor meals with Donovan's family and enjoyed the glorious Winter Park weather. We do have a nice routine of visiting the skate park downtown and letting the boys ride their scooters while Michael and I read in our airlounjs. We usually watch a movie the night we arrive in our condo. We usually hike. I cook a lot. We go get ice cream. It's fun. The second time we went, we had finally given in and bought Davis a second bike dedicated to downhilling. It was ridic...

July During Covid

Image
The first part of July was rough. My whole side where I fell while mountain biking was pretty damaged and painful. Also, Davis got some kind of virus that made it hard to breathe, so we had a big covid scare and had to get him tested and then quarantine, but it turned out it was not covid and so that was a relief. We went to Winter Park/Granby three times though and each time was lovely and wonderful and I will put that in a different post. As the month went on, we all felt better and had some good times. My mom and Paul came back and closed on an amazing downtown condo!!!! This is so exciting as it means she will be here more often hopefully and has an amazing location we can share! I got to spend lots of time with her. We went up to to tour the condo and had dinner with Paul's kiddos. We went up with the boys to help move some stuff and show them the sweet pad. Mom and I hiked Bear Creek while Davis had mtb practice. Mom and Paul came to see Davis race a local xc race in Highland...

Taos During Covid

Image
We decided to spend a week in Taos. Michael worked while we were there, but the boys and I hiked and explored. We hiked William's Lake and stopped at Taos Cow food truck for ice cream. One day, Marcie and Ann and the boys joined us and we hiked El Salto Falls and then had a picnic on the porch. We ate at the chocolate shop a lot of times and walked around the farmer's market. Michael and I ate out one time in the grass under an easy up and had a real life date. I went on a hike with our friends Valerie and Milo. We played a lot of ping pong and watched a lot of good movies.  Davis and Sam and I went on a back trailed bike ride out towards Sipapu, near our sledding spot. Almost everything was closed or shut down in Taos. We did find out that the owner of Pit Vipers is from Taos. That was exciting. Davis's friend Alex and his family parked their trailer in the yard on the weekend and brought his other friend Donovan and we drove to Angel Fire to try downhilling. Everyone love...
