Sandcastle in Port Aransas

Our friends invited us to go spend a long weekend in their condo at the Sand Castle in Port Aransas this weekend. We were thrilled! It was so fun to stay someplace new and experience our favorite beach town in a different way.
Stacey and I took the kids down by ourselves on Thursday afternoon. We tried a random mexican food restaurant in Beeville (pretty tasty) and arrived late. We unpacked by ourselves and got our kids down and enjoyed celebratory gin and tonics. On Friday we spent the morning with my parents in their condo having a lovely brunch and then spent the afternoon at the Sandcastle's fabulous pool. I made steamed shrimp and quinoa and sliced veggies for dinner. Our husbands arrived after the kids went to bed on Friday night. We all went out to the huge balcony and had a great time chatting and sipping and munching.
Saturday we spent the entire day on the beach. It was perfect. The weather was warm and sunny, the breeze was not too strong and the waves were just right. The kids enjoyed their new boogie boards and I got to read a lot. We had a picnic lunch on the sand of left overs and didn't drag ourselves back up to the condo till around 4PM.
We showered and put the kids in front of movie. I made roasted veggies and Stacey made some fantastic crab cakes with remoulade sauce. Once we got the kids to bed all four of us sat down and read our books. We are all reading the Fire and Ice/Game of Swords series and it was fun to chat about what we were reading. (for most of us, at least).
Sunday we read, packed and spent a half an hour at the pool until it was time to leave. On our way out of town, we stopped at Moby Dick's for lunch. It was a great beach weekend!
