Everybody is trying Something New around here.
We had a nice Saturday afternoon/evening with my family celebrating my sister's birthday. We had planned to take the kids and bowl at the Highball, but when we arrived they informed us that the kids were not allowed. We quickly changed plans and moved to Westgate Lanes where my boys had their first bowling experience. They loved it. They bowled with their cousin and had a fantastic time. My mom brought cupcakes and we gifted my sister. Then we drove to a restaurant I'd never been to, and had a fabulous dinner. I love spending time with my sister and I had a great time watching my boys throw that heavy ball down the lane.
Sunday we went to a private island in New Braunfels with our usual crew of best friends had a great time. Davis and Sam had their first diving board experience. Their friend Rowan showed them how it was done and then Sam boldly tried it. He did very well and loved it. After Sam did it a few times, Davis agreed to try and from then on didn't want to stop jumping.
This week my parents have flown off to Taos to look for a vacation house there to buy! We are all very excited about this development. I am cleaning and packing and getting ready for our trip to Washington, DC for Michael's family reunion. We'll be gone for five days. If you live in the area and want to meet up, or have some good suggestions of things to do with the kids, please let me know. I haven't been to DC since I was a kid so it'll be a new experience for all of us.
Michael has thrown away my bathroom scale for my mental health and I am enjoying the freedom from it. I have been a slave to the scale for all of my adult life and have always let it dictate whether I was going to have a good day or a bad day. Since I began taking my new medication for my lady problems, I have put on some weight and so the scale has been dictating that every day is a bad day. This is no way to live. Apparently my husband figured it was no way to live either and so he has hidden it. I have decided to continue to eat clean and vegan, continue my running and weight lifting routine six days a week and buy slightly bigger pants so I am no longer haunted by a muffin top. Hopefully, if I do all these things I can let go my obsession with my body image and focus on being happy and healthy.
We are also fighting with our house. Turns out our roof is a lemon. The beautiful tile was never put on correctly and the brief three minutes of rain we had last week came through places in our roof it's not supposed to come through. We are going to find out this week is we can just fix it or if we have to get a new roof.
And tiny little sugar ants have invaded our home. I'm cleaning out drawers and cabinets and shelves and putting our more poison than I want to. Let me know if you have any good remedies. Every day we wake up to find a new swarm in a new area of our kitchen.
