First Words and Pretend

I've been meaning to mention that Sam has started speaking. A little. He has been less inclined to voice his thoughts at this age than Davis was, but slowly, he has been starting to speak. His gibberish sounds something like this:
AAEeeeee, Aggle Flaggle Glabble, Do dih, agooo, dih dih dih Dah!, etc.
We have also heard him speak a few words that actually seem to make sense. His first clearly spoken, with intention word was Davis. He looked at his brother, smiled and said, "Daaa dih!" Several people were in the room and all looked up in surprise that Sam had just clearly spoken his brother's name. Sam has also been heard to say, dog, DaDa, and yes. He shakes his head no, but has mastered the art of "es" for Yes. It's actually very helpful. I also have a sneaking suspicion that he is saying "do dah" for do that, but I'm not entirely sure.
Other than that, he is still working on walking and adores it when Davis takes him for a ride on the back of his tractor. I'll post a movie of that shortly.
Davis has moved into the world of pretend. He'll hop up and ask me if I want muffins and coffee and then pretend to make them and serve them to me. Yesterday he announced, completely unprompted, that we were going to the Farmer's Market on his tractor to get some vegetables. He then, unprompted, offered me corns, carrots, apples, pizza and wokaly (broccoli) to eat. He even offered me ranch to dip them in.
He makes up songs about whatever is on his mind. He also likes to announce that he is a farm animal and that you are a different farm animal and then we go about making animal noises at each other. He really is a delight.
His conversational skills are getting so much better. We can carry on a 12 or more sentence conversation now going back and forth. Often these conversations are about things he is imagining outside the car window, like elephants that are flying and horses running behind the clouds.
He's also learning to manipulate with the best of them. He will ask you if he can do something he know is not allowed when he notices you are distracted. I'll be on the phone and he'll say, "Can I climb the bookshelf and get the sunscreen?, OKAY?" And you distractedly say okay, and he runs off to do the thing he just conned you into agreeing to. Tricky.
Davis is thrilled that Sam is becoming more vocal and mobile. The day after Sam learned to walk with the pushcart, Davis rushed downstairs and pulled his tractor over to the pushcart and said, "Come on Sammy, let's race, OKAY???" He was a little disappointed that Sam didn't rush over and start pushing.
That's all for now!
