Thanksgiving and Parade of Lights
We went to Bedford this year for Turkey Day. It's in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area and is the home of Michael's aunt and uncle and their family. We were joined by many of Michael's mother's family and had a lovely day. The house was warm and full of laughter and family. It was cold outside though! It snowed! The snow did not stick at all, but came down pretty thickly at one point. The little homewood suites was nice, but the kids had a hard time sleeping. Sam found it necessary to wake at 4:45AM both mornings.
The next day we drove over to Ft. Worth for the Parade of Lights, and checked into the Marriott Blackstone. Martha and Clark came along and got a room next door. We got a great suite with a HUGE balcony on the 14th Floor. We bundled the children into every layer we had and put them in the stroller. We strolled through Sundance Square and visited the museum and enjoyed the sights. We had a beer in a pub and then joined the festivities in the square. They had a 56' Christmas tree and a kiddie train and some bounce houses. They also had a stage with performances and some christmas characters walking around. Davis enjoyed it all, but it was pretty cold.
That night we put Sammy down and then bundled up again. I had on five layers and it wasn't enough! We crept up the stairs to our balcony and got ready to watch the parade. It was very pretty, but we wished we could be down there with everyone watching it. Still, soon Davis asked to go to bed and thanked me when I put him down. I went back up to the balcony and watched more of the parade with the rest of the family. It got colder and colder. Clark gave up and headed for his room to watch the parade from inside! Then I gave up. Martha and Michael stayed for the end and then we all watched them light the tree. It was really a neat parade. We intend to make this our little family tradition, so keep it in mind for next year and join us!
We drove carefully home on Saturday through freezing, wet weather. It's nice to be snug in our house for the rest of the holiday. I hope you all had a great thanksgiving too. Love you. Amber
