Davis' First Play

Mom and Dad bought us all tickets to go see Seussical the Musical yesterday afternoon. Gigi and Gramp, Aunt Tiff and Kade, MiMi and Papaw were all in attendance as well. Sam, while invited, decided to take his afternoon nap at home instead.
This was Davis' first full length entertainment opportunity. We have never taken him to a movie or play before. He did very well! Mom and Dad brought a booster for him to sit on so he could see the play. A lot of it went over his head, but he still enjoyed it and sat relatively quietly and applauded when appropriate.
It was fun to watch his reactions. He was concerned each time the house lights went down and was a little bored during the ballads, but he really enjoyed the dancing and was often swaying in his seat.
The musical itself was only so-so. The soundtrack has never been one of my favorites, but the costumes were fun and the choreography was good. The actress who played Gertrude was very good. (Those were the good points and I wouldn't want to put the negatives in print. I might want to work for this theatre company again some day.) Anyway, it was great fun to be out with the family and to watch Davis discover an art form that is close to my heart.

thanks for the review! my neighbors "won" (high bid at a silent auction) a party for 10 kids to the show and gave it to us. we asked Harris if he'd like to do that for his birthday next month...and he declined. still...i feel obligated to go, cuz they were so generous to give it to us. hmmmm....what to do?

I'm glad it helped! You should go. It was fun. I'm just spoiled I think. It's especially fun to watch the kids watching it.
