Taos Day 4
Yesterday morning we woke up, made breakfast and headed out to the Taos Pueblo. It's about fifteen minutes from here and is a UNESCO Heritage site. We had a tour and we all really enjoyed it including the kids. Then we wandered around and explored and shopped. We all had an indian fry bread and I bought a pueblo made christmas ornament. The kids loved it and seemed to learn a lot.
We came back and made lunch out of leftovers and then mom watched the boys while Michael and I went to the local theater and watched Breaking Dawn. We both loved it though Michael was a bit perturbed that he was the only man in the audience. We came home and had cocktail hour that included a hilarious family game of twister.
Later in the evening, Marcie and Ann and the kids arrived. We ordered pizzas and let the kids go crazy. They brought light up lightsabers for the kids and a super hero costume for Sam for his birthday. Marcie and Ann had bought a new Yorkie puppy that morning and we are all under his spell. He's precious. Dad is still very sick, but mom got him a prescription called in here for antibiotics so hopefully he will get better.
This morning we woke early and started cooking. We had a big breakfast and then we started on the dinner. The turkey is in the oven now and we are watching the parade and drinking eggnog. We'll have a late lunch of New Mexico Chili stuffed turkey with red chili gravy, tamales, platters of roasted root vegetables with balsamic glaze and truffle oil, a green salad with citrus, avocado, green peas, cranberry relish. For dessert we have four pies- pumpkin chocolate pecan, apple, cherry and key lime, and also some vegan chocolate chip cookies.
The boys and I sat at the bar this morning and talked about what we are thankful for. There are so many things in our lives to be grateful for and it was so fun to talk about them. I'm grateful for my family and friends. I hope you guys have a fantastic Thanksgiving.
