Denver Polo Classic

Image
We had so much fun during the three days of the Denver Polo Classic. This was a charity event put on by DA2030 and it was amazing. DA2030 raises money for disadvantaged children and does a great job. I had invited some members of CASA to share our table and one of them was sharing with me that this year alone, the organization has given them 13,500. They had a raffle and a different silent auction each day. The food was incredible and I got to watch real life polo! Also, I got to dress up on Friday night and so Michael rented a tux and I rented a dress from Rent the Runway. We had a grand weekend and I hope we raised a lot of money!

K1 Speed

Image
When we were planning on moving to Colorado, we used the presence of a go-kart place called K1, as an incentive for Davis and Sam. We had planned to visit over memorial day weekend when we first arrived, but as plans last summer changed, that trip never happened. Fast forward to this summer, when Suzy pointed out a great deal at K1 on groupon and we snagged it. On Monday evening we each loaded up our cars with our families and drove out to K1 to race around in tiny, fast cars. I did one race and hated it. I was completely claustrophobic in the full face mask and terrified each time a car passed me. I am not a thrill seeker. So I gave up my second race to Davis and happily cheered from the side. I LOVED watching everyone zoom around. Davis and Michael were amazing, flying around each corner and doing their best to go as fast as humanly possible. Sam had a good time too, but he is also not a thrill seeker, pulling over every time someone wanted to pass and slowing and doing a parade wav...

Colorado Renaissance Festival

Image
On Sunday we drove down to the Colorado Renaissance Festival with Suzy and her kids. We put on our best renaissance costumes and had a great time. Father's day hit me really hard and I just couldn't acknowledge that event again this year. The kids gifted and celebrated their dad on our new annual "Happy Fun Sunday". I hid from social media and immersed myself in a Renaissance world. We are having a heat wave, but in Colorado a heatwave is not so bad. It just meant that we often tried to rest in some shade. We all had a marvelous time. The cat show and the jousting were highlights. We are trying to make the most of our new home and the beautiful summer weather.

Drama Camp

Image
Last week I taught a summer Drama camp at STEM. I had 15 kids plus my own two. Camp was from 9-3 and we had so much fun. I had the very best group of kids. We played a ton of improv games, worked on voice, movement, musical theater, improvisation, audition techniques and text analysis. We also blocked and performed a play call Magic Theatre. We did a performance on our final day and the kids did great. It was very exciting to work with these kids as they were so dedicated and passionate. I had worked with most of the kids last year at the school, but I met some really nice new students as well. It makes me really excited to work with them some more next year.

Fun Outside

Image
Colorado is really nice outside in the summer. The weather is beautiful and everyone heads outside. Even when it gets warm in the day, the evenings are cool and wonderful. We have been attending Highlands Ranch outdoor concert series every Thursday evening. We drive over to our friend Christin's house and park there. Then we walk/scooter to the park with the Danielson's and Christin's family. When we arrive at the park we spread out our blankets and picnics and the kids go off to play. The music is not top quality, but it is fun and we love being outside in the gorgeous weather with our friends. We also hosted an outdoor movie night of our own in our greenspace. We screened the Princess Bride again and it was wonderful, despite the fact that so FEW people chose to wear costumes. What is with Colorado folks who refuse to dress up? It's so fun to put on a costume! Still, it was well attended and many people quoted along and that was enjoyable. Suzy and I snuck out with...
