First Few Days of May

Despite being incredibly busy with the show, we still managed to do some other things around here during our first few days of May. We had a cold, rainy May Day, but I still folded up some baskets and stuck flowers and candy inside and Michael delivered them 'ding and dash" style to the neighbors anonymously. He had flown home early and I was happy that he could help!
Friday of course was the show.
Saturday we had really nice weather and I was glad as we had our concrete guy come out with his team and pour us a new sidewalk! It was a really a give a mouse a cookie scenario, as I purchased a "garden in a box" from resource central the other day and then decided I had to dig out some new flower beds. Once Michael and I started designing the new beds, I thought I needed some new sidewalks. Since we were putting in new sidewalks, we had to move the AC unit. Then we decided if we were already digging up the sprinkler system for the new sidewalks, we should get it repaired. Good thing I got a discount on the flowers, huh? So the concrete truck came and poured and the dogs were confined and we have new sidewalks! Flowers come at the end of the month.
While the concrete was being poured, we were busy inside. It was another give a mouse a cookie scenario, actually. We wanted to put in a handrail from our upstairs guest room down to the upper living room. The first guy we asked didn't have time for new work. The second guy we got quoted us a huge amount of money. Then I found a desk at a garage sale for $5. So then I had the idea that maybe we could move the guest bed downstairs into Davis's room and then he could just vacate his room when we had guests. And then we thought we could turn the guest room into a computer/game/homework room for Davis. And then suddenly we were moving all the furniture from the two bedrooms up and down three flights of stairs. I hurt ALL over. But it's done and it's perfect. And we totally saved money on that handrail. Right?
Sunday we decided we deserved a break. We were set to go to music Sunday at church and then the Big Wonderful festival downtown, but then Sam got a migraine. Michael ran Davis to church so he could make his second to last O.W.L. class and I dosed Sam. Luckily, rest and meds worked and he was recovered by lunchtime! (our neurologist gave us new meds recently and we are very happy!) We loaded up kids (including Leah) and drove north of downtown to meet our friends Maggie, Mike and their kids and Maggie's sister Bailey to enjoy a festival. The weather was warm and gorgeous! The blue grass music was great, and I found a delicious new beverage. It's a Stem cider that's cucumber and salt. So good. We ate arepas from a food truck and danced and shopped and the kids went nuts over a bouncy castle. It was a great way to end the weekend.
The last photo is of the tree in the parking lot of Target. I included it because all the trees are in full blossom around here. It is technicolor pink EVERYwhere dotted with gorgeous white blossoms. When the wind blows it looks like white and pink confetti. Spring has definitely sprung despite the promise of snow again this week.
