Parade, Mela, Longhorn Singer Reunion

Saturday was busy. And so fun! We woke up early and decided to forgo yard work in order to spend the day having enjoying all that our region has to offer.
We threw on clothes and drove to the starting point for the San Marcos Just for Fun Parade. Here's a video of it from 1982. It's pretty much the same now. We watched people gather in more and more outlandish outfits, often toting cases of beer along with their tie dye. It was funky, and upbeat, and different and made me glad there was something like this in our new town. Unfortunately, the parade was stopped before it began as they didn't seem to have the proper permits and the cops never came along to escort the parade.
We headed home and I took Stella for training class and the boys took a quick rest.
When I got home we loaded back up and headed to Austin along with Mom and Dad for the Mela Festival and Barsana Dham. Mela is an an Indian Spring Festival held at a beautiful Hindu temple in the Hill Country. It is so fun. I had been two years before and was looking forward to taking Davis now that he could participate in all the children's activities. The Indian food was good and there were fields of beautiful wildflowers. We saw some beautiful dancing and Davis played lots of games.
We also got to see my friend Nancy and her family, though briefly.
When we got too hot, we decided to head for Mom and Dad's condo on Lady Bird Lake. We had hoped to see the Dragon Boat races, but we arrived too late. Michael and I showered and changed, kissed our boys good-bye and left them in the capable hands of my parents. We borrowed Dad's corvette and headed for Michael's Longhorn Singer Reunion.
The reunion had begun Friday night, with a social gathering, but Saturday was the big night. We got to see many of his old friends and had a really nice time. The highlight of the evening for me was to watch Michael sing several numbers with a choir of alumnis. It was so great to see Michael perform! I took a very short video that I will put up ASAP.
It was an incredible Saturday and I am exhausted. Still, it was really enjoyable. I hope you like the pictures.
