Port Aransas June 2012

We spent last weekend in Port A. We drove down on Friday morning and stopped for lunch at Joe's Crab Shack in Corpus Christi. We like that place 'cause they have an outside playground next to tables for the kids.
Then we drove to the condo, unpacked and spent the whole afternoon at the pool. It was remarkable because we had the whole thing to ourselves the entire afternoon. Super fun! I made dinner and we put the kids to bed and shortly after that, our friends Stacey and Chris showed up with their girls. We had a quiet evening chatting and went to bed early.
Saturday we spent the whole day at the beach. Our friends Rachael and David and their boys had driven their RV down and met us on the beach. We put up the EZ up and camped all day. I made a lunch for us all at the condo and then we went back to the beach. We let the kids get ice cream from the ice cream truck and they boogie boarded like rock stars all day. In the late afternoon, we cleaned up and drove into town to shop at Winton's Candy shop and to take pictures in the shark. Then we all went out for dinner at Beaches Cafe. We put the kids down and chatted into the evening.
Sunday we spent the whole day at the beach again. The kids continued boogie boarding and even got to try surfboarding. I drove into town and picked up four pounds of grouper from the seafood store and then made a big lunch for everyone including some friends from church who came to play with us at the beach. I made fish packets, quinoa black bean salad, and lots of chips. We spent more time on the beach in the afternoon and then spent the afternoon lounging and letting the kids watch a movie. Michael and Chris picked up dinner from my favorite restaurant Shell's and then we put the kids to bed and played Telestrations.
Monday we cleaned and packed and then went out to lunch at this dive bar/restaurant on the beach. The fried fish and hushpuppies were divine, but Michael found a cooked bug in his, so we all quit eating and, after they comped our meal, we ditched the place. We drove back to the condo, packed up and headed home.
We had a great trip and really enjoyed the beautiful weather, the lack of manowars and much seaweed and the company. We are always grateful to have such a wonderful home away from on the beach and such good friends to share it with.
We'll head back to the beach for the 4th of July with Marcie and Ann and their kids. We love it so.
