Sept Visit with my Mom!

Last weekend, my mama came to visit! She flew in on Thursday afternoon and we drank wine and visited and walked the dog and were together. It was good.
The next morning, Davis didn't have school, so after we dropped Sam off at his school, the three of us drove out to Lair o' the Bear for a hike. It wasn't crowded at all and the cool morning weather was lovely. It was a great hike. Davis really enjoyed taking pictures and looking at all the fancy mountain bikes. After our hike, we ate lunch in Morrison on a rooftop deck. It was pretty great.
That evening, we drove over to Carboy Winery which was PACKED. We found a parking spot and eventually maneuvered our way into a table. We did some wine tasting and nibbling which was all good. (wine was okay and the food was great). Paul joined us and we tasted and sipped more. Eventually we moved to the restaurant next door, Angelos, for dinner. The food was really good and we had some great raw oysters. Then we drove home and collapsed. It was really nice to be able to go out and leave the kids without a sitter. It's a new era!

The next day we woke up and had our shakes and then got on some bicycles and went for a bike ride with mom down Lee Gulch Trail. We went about 7 miles and mom declared it two miles too long. I felt bad we pushed her so far, but she is in incredible shape and handled it so well. I am so lucky to have such an amazing woman as a mama. We rested and then went to watch the boys play tennis matches. The sun was shining unrelentingly and it was hot. We hid under umbrellas to try and get shade, but it was hard watching. Eventually mom had to go home to get ready for her date! She and Paul went out to Nocturne for dinner and jazz. Michael and I brought the boys home and hosted a backyard barbecue on our new GRILL and then had Catan night. It was a win/win.

The next morning we had a brunch reservation at Ophelia's and it was amazing! Kara took Davis to church, but the rest of us went downtown and met Paul for a blues brunch. Ophelia's is now my new favorite place. The music and food were amazing as well as the atmosphere. The bottomless mimosas didn't hurt anything either. After brunch, Davis took a Hop, Skip, Ride, which is like a kid Uber and met us downtown. We all walked over to the Oktoberfest and Michael and I sipped beer, participated in a Stein holding contest and watched the kids play keg bowling. But it was hot and that unrelenting sunshine was too strong for us. We walked down to Union Station to let the kids play in the fountain and to have some oysters and cold wine. We had too many oysters and cold wine, but it was still fun. We eventually took a lyft home and sat in a day drinking stupor till bedtime. But it was worth it!!!!!
The next morning, Mom and Michael both headed to the airport. I was so sad to see my mama leave! I love being with her so much. Luckily, I will see her soon for fall break!
