NYC Girls Trip 2018

I went to NYC with Mama, Tiff and Denise this last weekend and it was AMAZING. The day before we left I was all in a dither because our VRBO cancelled on us. Luckily, Mom stepped in to the rescue and booked us in at the Excelsior and saved the day. Thursday morning, I got up and flew into NYC!
Here is our basic itinerary:
Arrived in NYC, met girls at Mediterranean food for yummy snacks and Sancerre wine. Unpack and go down to the Highline area to have drinks at Top of the Standard. Ate French Fries, drank three amazing cocktails, fell in love with Young Lenny Kravitz Waiter, went upstairs to rooftop, drank Pinot Noir, stumble to subway.
Friday woke late, Denise brought us coffe, we walked up to Good Enough to Eat and had hangover breakfast (BISCUITS). Then we took the subway down to the Village, had Tea at my favorite tea shop, walked and explored China Town and had late lunch (shrimp dumplings, noodles, broccoli, turnip cakes, pork bun, Tiger beer) at Nom Wah. Shopped, perfume, watches, handbags, chopsticks. Subway back to the upper west side. Wine in Room. Wine and plantain chips with guacamole in Hotel Bar with mom.
That night we went to see Pretty Woman at the Nederlander Theater at 8pm and went to Don’t Tell Mama afterward. I fell in love with the show and we had great seats. Don't Tell Mama was a hoot. We were crammed into the back corner with some New Zealanders and southerners. We ate sliders and fries, drank wine and I didn't sing, though Tiffany wrote me a note and gave me tip money. I was too chicken. I did make a judgy face Meme when some girl got up to sing Fever.

Saturday morning we woke up late and walked to Columbus Deli for white fish on everything bagel with tomato. It was so good! Then we walked over to the Museum of Natural History for the Dia Los Muertos celebration. We saw amazing altars, watched dancers, shopped, laid marigolds on an altar for dad and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We made our way to Central Park from there and walked around admiring the fall foliage (it was gorgeous!) visited dad's bench and then walked to Bergdorf Goodman so I could buy some perfume and we could sample up. Then we went back to the upper west side where Tiff and I freshened up and went back to the fabulous hotel bar for more wine and plantains with guacamole.
That evening we went to Ginny’s Supper Club at in Harlem. Chris Turner was playing and it was not our kind of music. At all. But it was amusing. And the food was INCREDIBLE. I had a vodka drink with grapes and then wine, plus we had deviled eggs, ceviche, cornbread and then I had fried catfish with black eyed peas. Oh yes I did. All of it. And then we left cause the music was awful. LOL.
I found us a bar nearby that promised jazz with no cover and we scored a table! This time the music was good and wine was rotgut, but we still had fun! Mom noticed her credit card was missing and so after a while we all ran back to Ginny's to retrieve it and on our way back to the subway, we stopped at the Apollo Theater. Mom reminisced about some amazing music there including Bill Clinton! Then we went home and Tiff and I had cuddle time and chose good facebook pics.
Sunday we woke up too early cause I moved Tiffany's phone, but she went on the starbucks run and brought me coffee and bagel bites! (our room was broken as there was no coffee pot, lol). Then we packed and got ready to check out of our room before heading out to the farmer's market. We shopped and it was fun and then we checked out all the runner's getting ready to run the NYC marathon. It was right in front of our hotel and a very big deal. We found ourselves back at a great flea market in time to try on fur coats before meeting Denise after her church service and heading back down to Little Italy for lunch. We were on a mission to find pizza and we succeeded. We had an apple and beet salad, a vodka sauce pizza, fettucine bolonaise, and spaghetti puttanesca and chianti and espresso and it was a carb filled amazing meal. The we all went back up to the Upper West Side and mom and Denise and Tiff were whisked away in a car to their airport. I had some time to kill so I went back to Central Park for a walk before exploring the NYC transit system and taking subway, New Jersey transit and the path train to Newark. It was fun to figure out something new and it worked out cheaply and great. I even had time for football and a korean chicken sandwich and rose wine before flying out around 8:45PM.
It was such a wonderful trip!
