Day 4: Day at Sea

Our first day of the cruise was a "day at sea". This means that there were tons of activities on the boat available as we cruised up towards Ketchikan and Southeast Alaska.
We woke and had coffee and croissants and milk delivered to the room. After that we headed to the Horizon Court buffet. The breakfast was ample and we all enjoyed our table overlooking the water.
We sent Davis to join his "Pelican" class and his cousin Austin in the fun zone and went to check out the various activities onboard.

We played trivia with the family and later played a board game. The kids joined us for lunch and nap and went back to the funzone. Later, Michael and his family were selected out of many, many others to get on stage and play Family Feud. It was very amusing, but sadly, they lost.

In the afternoon, we went back to our room and cleaned up and put on formal clothes. We were getting ready to renew out vows. Michael and I had decided to renew our vows every five years of our marriage. We think it is a great way to reconnect and confirm our commitment together. We thought the ship was a great place to do it and so we bought a package that included champagne, flowers and a ceremony with the captain if he was available. He turned out to be available and the service was lovely. It was really nice.

Then we put the kids to bed, headed out for a private toast and then met up with the family for a nice dinner.
After dinner, we headed over for Princess Pop Idol Heat One. This is a karaoke contest that I had big plans for. Last year I had gotten to the very end, but come in second. This year I hoped to do at least as well. I had practiced my song and was ready to go. I sang "Big Spender" and squeaked by into the finals. Yay!

It was a fun day, but time to crawl into bed to get some sleep before our first day in Alaska.

Well that was round one. I got into the finals and performed again on the last night of the cruise. Stay tuned for the final verdict! :)
